You may be asking yourself, what does social psychology have to do with cats? Or what does etiquette have to do with cats? What if you don’t even like cats, dogs, or people, for that matter?
Answer: I used cats as the theme for my book, “The Social Psychology of Etiquette,” because kicking cats is a behavior that is universally unaccepted. Each chapter includes an illustration of situations where it’s not okay to kick a cat. Especially my cat.
To aggressively fly in the face of social norms is not acceptable – it ruffles fur and feathers, and it makes people mad.
It’s like kicking the cat!
